Kanan Devi and KL Saigal in Parichay. Collared blouses, scalloped necks and boxy silhouettes were common in sari blouses in the 1940s.
I am not sure what’s going on here. There is a bindi. A Spanish rose. That khanjar. A polka dot skirt. And a demure blouse – sort of – free of pallu.
Wondering if the 1940s blouses were influenced by the boxy look of wartime fashions in Europe.
